flip flop

i love flip flops. i'd wear them all the time if i could. i wish i could remember what brand of flip flops that my brother wore when he was in college. i remember those flip flops as being the coolest. oh, but i'm not supposed to be talking about flip flops, the footwear. i'm supposed to be talking about flip flop, as in the feeling in my tummy as monday gets closer and the surreal feeling of no longer being the student in the audience but the instructor at the podium. i'm nervous that i'm not nervous. is that weird? i mean i LOVE teaching. i love interacting with students and learning from students. it's always a challenge to make the material fresh and meaningful to them. i'm excited, but i'm also acutely aware that i'm in a different role now, one that carries with it a different level of responsibility. i'm so anxious that i'm literally itching all over. weird, i know, but what do you expect, this is me we're talking about.
i have this image of me walking out the door in the morning stepping over the threshold into blinding light and once on the other side, well i can't envision that far. i know this is the "rush" that one feels before making the leap, taking the risk, jumping blind. does that make me a risk taker? does it make me an adrenaline junkie? me? on the same level as evel kneivel? cool.
